some fans took the word "it's not my work" to another new meaning. it's Ikemoto's work and ideas and Kishimoto only supervised it (also in the interview he never mentionned that it's not canon). also if you check naruto final chapter you'll see all the characters exist. it's just many fans hates boruto for the bad writing and the crazy ammount of fillers (i think i saw a post on reddit where they translated parts of the interview you can check it)
