What I don’t like about manhwas is that most of them fail to generate sexual tension, as they focus primarily on advancing the characters' relationship through sex. There’s no exchange of ideas—no exploration of how their differences might coexist rather than act as an obstacle to their relationship. There’s a lack of moments where chemistry exists outside of the act of having sex; it makes it difficult to grasp the "genuine" love they profess for one another, leaving it feeling hollow.

I agree with what you said. that's also the reason why I prefer BL manga to read. Most of the manga I’ve read are more realistic and complex, focusing on the characters’ individual personalities, emotional depth, and how they navigate their relationships rather than just revolving around smut. I prefer stories that explore the characters and their emotions beyond physical intimacy.

In manga, there is always time taken to explore a more emotional side of the characters—their fears, insecurities, and passions—while the art itself conveys emotion without a single word being spoken. We can witness the birth of love without it constantly being reduced to a sexual act; it is a tension that builds until it finally erupts in a genuine confession of love, making the entire wait feel truly worthwhile.
