Yeah but that’s not the point . Is not that Dane doesn’t want kids just because , it’s the reason he doesn’t want kids that makes all the situation heartbreaking

He is a product of his mother getting g rape so she was very abusive towards him . Always remains him that he shouldn’t exist while being drunk then acting a bit caring . That happened all the way till he presented as an omega so his mom tried to kill him because of that saying she was doing it out of love but she failed and then kill herself . He thinks that love doesn’t exist . He is very touchy when it comes to kids and abuse and for him is better to not have kids if you will end up regretting and abuse them ( just like what happened to him )
Thats why later on he thinks he doesn’t deserves Grayson being there because he thinks he would never be able to love anyone ( plot twist he was already falling for him and we see it throughout the novel in things that Dane does but he doesn’t realice it)
Thats why he reacted so much when he ask if Grayson was abused by his father.
Yes , and he doesn’t like him either ( they are gonna meet later on ) As the story goes forward Dane becomes Graysons number one defender hahaha actually Dane is the first person in Graysons life to stop and try to understand how his brain work .
