Maybe because I haven't binge read this and been reading weekly updates, I didn't feel the payoff for the ferroking background setting. I may have missed the foreshadowing and build up about it due to the aforementioned thing, the empress being the mastermind wasn't shocking as it should. The ending also felt rushed.
