What I’ve been wondering about was how can Jin take the throne (in Ian’s past life). Gale and Marev would clearly destroy each other, but Arsen seems sly and cruel enough that I don’t think Jin could win if they ever fight for the throne.
Now I see the answer.. That scene is the turning point. In past life, Jin must be helped by someone else too. That’s how Jin survived the chaos and became the emperor.
