Please don’t flame me for this hot take but I feel like the rape wasn’t “too much” on purpose. I also felt super uncomfortable about it in comparison to other books, that made SA feel “less uncomfortable”. But since rape isn’t something we should enjoy or dismiss as something unimportant, I personally think, the rape scenes here had it’s “purpose” and effect on the readers. A main part about the story is the SA jin jooha faced so i think it’s legitimate to bring the reader closer to it. But I think you can always argue about the necessity of the depiction of sa and how often it has to be shown
