I knew it wouldn’t happen obviously, but it would have been better if Riftan would follow through and they’d divorce. Maxi chose to leave for the mage tower and a big part of it was because her self development was more important to her. She cherished her growth as a person over love when she was given an ultimatum and she should own it. It kind of cheapens her self-growth journey if Riftan ends up waiting anyway.
And the people whining about Riftan… I don’t get why Riftan HAS to stay…? Maxi and Riften both have the right to leave if they decide the r/s isn’t what they want. Would you not agree that you have the right to leave your partner, if they went off to another country to grow their career, and you decide it’s too much separation? Your needs are not being met. That’s part and parcel of relationships. You try to compromise but if there’s no way around it, you break up.
