It quite literally is, the whole romanticism of rape and abuse is a big part of the dark romance genre
what I hate most about this type of trope isn't even the abusive rapist fucking top itself, but the romanticization by the authors with no consequence whatsoever. The fact that they always take the easy stockholm syndrome route and make the victims "get used to it", with no real remorse from the abuser. like no, please don't fucking "get used to this"!! grab a side table and smash his fucking head in! fight like your life depends on it. If he has no qualms about hurting you, abusing you and causing you pain, then why should you give a shit about HIS feelings?? he's literally far worse than his abusive father.. selfish fucking monster!! even animals are treated better than this! Yaoi writers will never give us a proper fucking story with a real revenge plot, even tho every other ML out there is actually a fucking villain and not a love interest.
