In the novels, Tay accepted that he cant change Ilay, but still chose to stay with him. It’s not a healthy relationship, but they both compromised with each other’s life and values bc Ilay cant let go of Tay and Tay has already fallen too deep to pull out.

There’s no redeeming Ilay’s past actions, I’m just gonna say that there’s going to be improvement in how he treats Tay, believe it or not. He’ll be more protective and affectionate towards Tay, it’s almost like a completely different Ilay lmfao. There’s a significant turning point for Ilay in the novels too that I remember vaguely. He’ll experience nightmares about accidentally killing Tay, which leads him to becoming more gentle. He even hires a mercenary to kill him in case Tay dies before him. Ilay even declared that if Tay dies, Ilay will die too.

Oh and Tay is gonna be fine. He’ll soon adjust to this lifestyle with Ilay after they compromise and they’ll live together for a very long time. Tay even falls in love with Ilay and confesses, but it took years for this feelings to bloom in the novel. Tay himself said that he doesn’t regret it too and would continue to walk with Ilay in that dangerous path even if it is painful.
