This story made me believe that there would be NO happy ending. That one of them HAD to die. There was no other explanation. Nothing. But author-nim did amazing. Start to finish, the writing and art was just so beautiful. I simply can not find a single word that describes the way this ending made me feel.
At times I hate the way I am. The way others may perceive folks like me. I hated anyone who never thought different about their identity or sexuality.. but I also detested those who were figuring themselves out. It wasn't jealousy. Just pure disgust. And some type of internal phobia.
The authors after note really hit home. It may not mean much to "normal" folk, or it may seem dramatic to some.. but it really meant a lot. It means a lot to see a creator go beyond.
One thing this story has taught me is, it's okay to be yourself. Even if the world itself seems to be against you. You'll find at least one person who, regardless of all the fear and hatred, will make you feel safe. That there's at least one person out there who will remember you for you, and you'll be their home.
"There are no monsters in this world. But bless those who feel like they are monsters."
I dont even know how to word anything right now.
