YES OMG. It was just so weird and no one was calling out his sexist behavior. Even in BL, I cannot escape sexism. Really a bummer because I did like this story at first.
The story itself is interesting, but the couple has zero chemistry. It’s entirely pheromone and sex based. I understand those being base attractions but it feels like there no real relationship development. Most of their story is smut and the alpha doing his investigation. We don’t even get his backstory at all, we don’t learn anything about them outside of work, sex, and their abilities.
I also see people calling the alpha and green flag, but he gives me such ick. Are we forgetting he tried to force bond the omega at the beginning?? Plus with their children, he’s sexist asf. He basically says the kids would be better off like him to survive int he world like the omega hasn’t survived much worse than him and done a damn good job of it. Then “alpha’s can’t show weakness” give me a break man. He pretty much entirely views the omega as an object and makes everything he does weirdly sexual. “The only pretty thing in this house I want to protect is you” i cringed so hard.
I love a good smutty story but the smut wasn’t even worth reading for me and the story is so meh. I love a good toxic yaoi too but this was meant to be framed as a healthy good relationship, i don’t see it that way at all. I only read to the end because I was curious about how the investigation would end, but I still found myself skimming chapters and wanting it to be over.
