Yeah, but just to clarify so people wont have the wrong idea (a bit of spoilers ahead): pretty much all these trigger warnings are from Ians past flashbacks, not his current relashionship with Michele. I mean, Ian is a professional gasligther and create a LOT of weird distorted narratives in his head, but by definition the only real incest situation is in Ians past (and he is the victim). Just letting it clear so people won't think Ian and Micheles realashionship turn into something grotesque because it's like, Ian is toxic but not *that* toxic. And Michele is a sunray greenflag baby. They also have a happy end, altought Ian don't tell Michele all the truth about the Anatold family to protect him (which is for the best tbh)

They didnt know Ian was the sex slave, Ian only communicated with them trough letters and sent them money saying he was their decesead fathers friend. And for the reason why the marriage was set (spoilers ahead): the second Anatold son, Micheles older brother, is a gambling addicted so he wanted to grab even more money from Ian, then he create this plan to push Ian to kill Michele so he could ask for compensation. For that, he started the marriage negociations without revealing that Michele was a men, emphazing how docile Michele was and how they wouldnt even send a single servent with him. Then the second son hoped that when is revealed that Michele is a men, that Ian would kill him to avoid marrying a men who couldnt have heirs. But then the second son goes to the north and finds out Ians true identity, realizing that Ian was the sex slave and is probably seeking revenge. So he even try to call back the marriage, but then its too late and Ian force him to keep the marriage going. So its not political reasons, is just that the second son is a scumbag that tried to sell his younger brother to be killed for money to gamble away.
