Michele really is such a sweetheart and I understand why Ian's behaviour is frustrating. At this point, Ian is still struggling to understand and trust Michele's sincerity, partly because of his own experiences and fears. It doesn't excuse his actions, but there's more to his behaviour than simply knowing Michele is genuine and deliberately hurting him.
