Agree, had a cousin like this saying he likes gore horror just so people would call him a "weird" guy but when I truly invited him to watch one with me, he was actually just acting tough. He recommended we watch Autopsy of Jane Doe turns out he can't take it -_-; he even blamed me for trying to act tough like huh? (Horror is my fave, but overly excessive gore is not really that great, I prefer that it has a plot). Also, a former classmate acting like some "psycho" but all he does is harass all of us. It just took him one word form the guidance and he's sitting still on his chair. ಠ_ಠ
I've had a lot more but ah, idk how they find being a weirdo a compliment like... ಠ_ಠ being a psycho would mean something had gone wrong with the way they process their emotions that it can get in the way of their thinking and functioning normally as a human being. It's not that they lose empathy completely, it just had been wired differently. They're not even being nonchalant. It could be because of their trauma too.
