Is it really that weird?

So one of my friends had come from Japan to visit for the week, of course not just for me but some other stuff. Anyway so I just met up for coffee a little while ago and we were talking about anything new that's happened. They know about my girlfriend and my daughter now, but I was talking about how I recently redone my room and then I helped my girlfriend redo hers. Anyway they seemed a little confused that my girlfriend and I have separate rooms. My house is a 4 bedroom place and 1 bedroom was supposed to be a spare but right now because of personal issues my girlfriends nephew is living here, then obviously my daughters room and then my room then my girlfriends. I mean if I want to I just sleep in my girlfriends room, it's not like we have anything against a shared room but sometimes people need their own space you know? It's not like our relationship is failing it's doing perfectly fine. Most of the time she comes into my room when she's going to bed anyway. Is it really that hard of a concept that couples can have seperate rooms? Like what if I piss her off one day and she doesn't want me around . I don't like sleeping on lounges so I'll just have a room to sleep in instead. We also needed some space to put our stuff and doing it together in the same room just wasn't gonna happen. I have like 2 shelves full of yaoi manga + 1 glass cupboard with shelves in it full of yaoi figures + nikke figures, that with my girlfriends stuff just wasn't gonna fit into one shared space .

Totally pro different rooms! People need to understand that having a partner who lives in the same house doesn't mean share bedroom or anything, at the end of the day we still are individual people with individual needs, and as you mentioned y'all can share one bedroom anw at any time.

Not weird at all. In fact, THIS should be the norm. Imagine if your girlfriend is sick and you're forced to cuddle up to her in bed because you share a room, sounds horrible imo
