Hearing that Version of this story sounds a lot better that wat we are reading. I don’t like him serious cuz it doesn’t look cute it looks menacing like he wants or is doing something evil.
Yeah. He was also pulling off similarly dumb stuff, but he does it quite innocently or playfully in the novel. Sort of a tiger looking all happy playing with his toy fully unaware of their feelings.

In the novel, Taejun was teasing Yumin the entire time he was saying he would eat him. He wanted to explain everything later when things calmed down but he also admitted enjoying seeing Yumin scared. To him it looked cute and lovable.
