None of the character was on mc's side.
Oscar approached him from the start with motives and everything else then happened because he joined hands. The first thought he had when mc found out about the potion is "nooo Abel's gonna lose someone again" and "pweasee Abel really loves you". About 2 brothers, needless to say theyre both selfish and all of theirs action for noone but themselves. The teacher and the brother is in the middle zone: care about the mc but didnt care enough to meddle in.
I think its honestly sad that mc has no solid foundation in his life due to isolation so Abel's love bombing works on him. Maybe he forgives because the only things he can take control over are his emotions and decisions. And the mc is strong minded (crazy even) so he forgives because he can. He's not too lenient, knows how to set boundaries, fully aware where he is now is (partly) the outcome of his decision so i dont pity him (or rage) too much.
Overall good read, good art. I enjoyed it. There're hints the author fully know this is problematic and every characters hold responsibility to somewhat extent and the characters are built that way. I'd like to think this is the author's effort to give authority to 'stupid forgiving mcs', that they're not entirely passive in this whole stuff (or im giving too much credits) (I still hate the trope where the male lead wrongs mc in an inhumane way and the only karma he gets is his lover ran away from him=> ml asks for forgiveness=> mc compromise)
