I'll never understand how people look at Jo's readiness to ruin his life for Ian as an ultimate romantic gesture. The story alludes to the fact that he'd ruin his life and Ian would still seek out TJ and be with him. It's not that Ian's love with TJ is perfect but that's where his heart truly is. It never mattered how much Jo was willing to pour himself into Ian, Ian's heart, body and soul would have still wandered to TJ. My question is how can you see that and still want Jo to be someone's substitute?? Is that fair to Jo at all? To stay stuck on someone who never chose him and was never going to choose him? And that's why his final words to Ian end his character arc so well, not only did he let go but he told Ian to not look back. He finally had the courage to accept the truth as painful as it was and he moved on with his life. I love that in the epilogue he doesn't reminisce about Ian he is just living his life something he wouldn't have been doing if he were with Ian.
