In the novel, After the raping end, Taeui explain that he didn't try to run away and guess what? Ilay didn't believe him. So what do you think will happen if Taeui used his last breath of telling Ilay he didn't try to run away during this time instead of what Ilay wants to hear? Yup, You'll end up seeing Tay more dead he could ever been
