So I'm going to try to explain the story so far, but honestly, I'm so confused. If someone could help me understand or correct me, I would be so grateful.
** SPOILERS **
Seo Seungwon wakes up one day thinking he's in a novel. Every time he tries to remember his past, his nose starts bleeding and he passes out.
The only things he remembers from his previous life are having a little sister and an abusive dad who used to hit them. In his new life, he has a brother instead.
He believes he's in a novel about Woo Jimin and Kang Muhyeon's creepy love story, and that as long as he follows their storyline, he can go home. But the story starts to diverge and becomes about him and Tae Seongjae, a mafia boss he keeps gravitating towards and eventually falls in love with.
Throughout the series, we get the impression that they already know each other. Their feelings are super strong from the start, Seungwon has strange flashbacks of someone with similar piercings, and Seongjae somehow remembers that Seungwon has a little sister instead of his current brother.
In the last chapters, we learn that Seungwon and Seongjae actually DID know each other. They were sunbae-hoobae in their previous life and fell deeply in love. Eventually, they both die or fall into a coma (not sure which) when a building collapses on them (season 1 finale).
I think they both wake up in this new life, getting a second chance but without their memories. This would explain Seungwon's constant nosebleeds and leg pain (since he was crushed under the building).
Now, this new life takes place in a book called Bittersweet Bloom, written by his real sister (who is now his brother, Seungjun) and her/his best friend Minju. But how are they ALL stuck in the novel and not just the people who "died"?
And what's the deal with his high school friend Hyeonhuk? He's from his previous life, warns him about something, and then Seungwon just forgets about it? So confusing.
Also, did Seungwon really have to become a drunk? That whole part was so sad and confusing to read.
Now for the MOST confusing part - the second memory loss. Seungwon gets kidnapped by I don't even know who (Muhyeon?), hits his head, and loses his memory AGAIN. Then he meets Seongjae again, who conveniently comes back with his memories (with absolutely no explanation as to how). Seungwon then has another episode, falls into the water, and suddenly remembers that Seongjae was his first love, his sunbae.
And somehow he remembers they are both still alive?
Good story, but honestly, such a mess. It feels like so many details were skipped or never properly explained.
