Ah… it feels icky

The fact that vol2 is necessary to understand what’ll happen in vol3 is so bad.
I’ve been reading bl for 10+ years and I feel like this is one of the first rape scenes that bothered me most.
Maybe it’s because vol1 was built like a unicorn shitting rainbows with amazing art and beautifully executed rivals to lovers plot, then vol2 was like someone shot the unicorn in the head and blood fell from the skies, and now vol3 is the unicorn shitting rainbows again but with a singular bandaid on the gunshot wound. The betrayal felt 10000x worse than expected.
Like I really wish we could erase the rape scene cuz I insist: it wasn’t necessary. A father telling his son to rape his lover in front of him to watch is borderline incestuous idk it’s so fucking weird. I understand the betrayal for the power dynamics was necessary, but if you wanna do it the mafia way, don’t be fucking weird about it. Like stab him, waterboard him, even tie him up the way the Italian mafia does (and give a heads up where he at so he can be freed before he dies strangled ofc), literally anything else would’ve been better.
The worst part? The plan didn’t even fucking work. So it was even more unnecessary. Also no redemption arc, it was brushed like dirt under the rug. And now here I am, one ch deep into vol3 and I keep looking at Dante like bitch you better be having nightmares.
Anyways I’ll just keep on reading but damn whole vol2 was disappointing.
