redemption

what makes makes someone deserving of redemption? I've read the first few chapters of a lot of manhua and all I can think of is why these people would be loved by the uke. I just find so much (and am so tired of) rape and brutalisation and even kidnapping or confinement and isolation. For a short list of recent things I checked out Passion, do as you please and waterside night, kiss me if you can.

I heard from a friend that waterside night was really good and the ML becomes much better but when I read the first season I thought why on earth would and more importantly should the ML be redeemed, is it even possible to redeem a rapist who kidnapped you and your little brother.

And I tried reading kiss me if you can but my mind kept pulling back to when the ML tried to shoot the MC at the start, the only reason he isn't dead was because there wasn't a bullet in the gun, no one knew that, the ML nor the MC knew there wasn't a bullet and he pulled the trigger. If there was a bullet then there would be no story and no one seems to touch on this. How can this person ever deserve redemption and to me it seems the only reason the MC falls in love is because he's attractive and they're already bonded. Maybe not entirely the reason they fall in love but it does seem to be the catalyst or what kick started the whole thing

Just because someone is attractive doesn't mean someone deserves a redemption arc and no matter how much they do, and I think it's crazy that the uke falls in love with them. Maybe if it's psychological horror, but even then it doesn't make sense, it should be common knowledge by now that Stockholm syndrome isn't an actual thing.

expanding on kiss me if you can, there are so many lines where he says like omg he's so attractive, I can't so no because he's so attractive and stuff like that. Where really there isn't much reason for them to fall in love or him to be redeemed. And thinking you raped a dog really doesn't cut it for me, you don't deserve redemption for that.
