This is actually THE BEST "otome game" setting BL I've ever read, despite the lack of romance progression and it being more of a parody. The fact that all the "romanceable targets" are self-aware of their role and treats it as a job to seduce "heroine" aka mc adds a unique and refreshing twist that sets up a lot of the hijinks mc and his two-faced crew get into. It takes actual effort to establish trust and friendship first with these self-aware, wary, and *straight* targets, making the romance progression super slow-burn, but when the MC does earn a smidgen of affection level, it feels so deserved and satisfying and exciting. mc is similar to many cheerful heroine archetypes but still manages to stand on his own with his 'straight man' dynamic with the characters and his disarmingly dumb, dense, yet caring personality. All the targets' personalities are fun and diverse, and their bantering and bickering with mc and each other is entertaining and hilarious. Plot-wise, it does seem to be following the general plotline of the otome game, but it's also pretty interesting with the meta elements in play
