I know that inevitably he’ll feed the children the drug ( that’s the way of the tender hearted protagonist) so what I’m actually curious about is how he’ll wield it. Will he just hand it over or will he use it as a bargaining chip for the Mountain Gods safety?
Not sure if the emperor favors both children or just the one in both timelines but if they both get sick this may move him to strike a deal. MC will soon get sick and then die since that’s the nature of the trope. (give away elixir -> immediately catch plague)
Perhaps the emperor will actually be heartless, call MCs bluff and kill the “sick” child who was secretly given the medicine? Then once he demands the location of the God, he’ll be told the deal is already thrown so since MC will die anyway he will die with his lovers location.
Maybe none of the above, I just feel these are common routes for this type of thing lol. It would make sense for the Mountain God to hold a grudge that his partner sacrificed himself instead of trusting him to handle the emperor.
