It’s a Japanese thing, just look for it, they are used to sharing bathing spaces to bond. It is indeed weird for us but we just need to learn to inform our self’s and be open to other cultures.
As I already pointed out it's not a bathhouse. You don't just invite yourself into the tub while people are bathing at home.
