long comment ahead because why not ~ i had a lot of thoughts (￣∇￣")
ahhh.. i really did not see the hype for this at first (aside from the pretty art style) first few slides in and i was just sighing at how uncomfortable every scene was but in a way.. it was entertaining to finish.
i do wish some parts of the story were not added or even stretched out for everything to be seamless, imo.. like some harassments scenes in the first few chapters could be lessen because i feel like some weren’t /that/ necessary- OR if not, jaekyung’s redemption arc couldve taken a bit longer, i was expecting it to be a year of redemption and suffering for him to even sort of equate the damage in the first few chaps but oh well, he did have his karma nonetheless, so theres that.
I still see why people hate this intensely or love it otherwise, because i feel like i sit right in between. for me though, more than the progress of their relationship, i enjoyed their development and their story individually as their own person more…; on how both of them may came from similar paths but was molded differently- how both of their defense mechanisms were so contrasting and yet they cling too each other just as intensely too- how they both healed each other’s inner child unconsciously- and etc.. i enjoyed seeing more of their characters as a whole the entire read ╮(￣▽￣)╭
.. which made me think that maybe the story would have much more warmth if they had taken a few years to heal, learn to love themselves first before finding their way back to each other. BUT that’s just me (￣∇￣")
also, the “creators note” parts really helped me view the whole story differently.. readers view Jinx as toxic, but the author did made it clear that it was their intention from the start so i guess you cant really get mad at the story if the author’s intent were expressed well that the readers are pissed at how toxic it was haha. i guess if you know what to expect before reading it, it would be kind of useless to get mad anyways #－.－)
i guess overall i could say, its a toxic love story neatly done ~
