It really isn't natural. Sure, she's young and impressionable, but to go to that extent to defend a boyfriend who you've had only for such a short time in front of friends who have probably been there for years speaks volumes. Further, she hurt FML instead of confronting her boyfriend. If you suspect your partner is being swayed and is actively cheating on you, it really isn't the fault of the one they cheated with as compared to themselves- did they not know that they're in a relationship with you?
