i love love love how they both inspired and uplifted the other, and how satomi’s changes are communicated in a more subtle way vs. (mild spoiler?) chikara’s more explicit changes, getting to present his research with birds, receiving improvements in his engineering itself, and then also receiving support as to not waver in what HE personally wants to pursue in his research instead of catering to the professor only… ok im rambling haha but I’m in academia so this really did touch my heart a bit!!
and i think it is so sweet that chikara’s perspective bled into satomi’s perception of himself, these days i feel like there is a lot of pressure and expectation to be an individual/ more aptly put, an island; (in my geographic-cultural sphere) thus i feel quite shameful(?) to admit that sometimes i am uncertain about my area of research, and that my drive isn’t as strong or impressive as others, that i in fact want to be held up by others in the face of all my dissatisfactions and doubts, but chikara’s influence lends to satomi understanding these aspects of himself as integrable, not shameful, and that the whole is something deserving of love… ahh i really like that so much.
