although i agree that incheol is projecting a cowardly behavior, i understand why he's scared to go behind lee's back and gain more control of himself. his father is tied to all of this. lee gave his father a second chance and provided him so that he could provide for his family. if lee finds out that incheol wants to deattach himself from her, she could ruin his life. personally, i think that's what the author is trying convey here. he's forced to keep being under her control and take her bullets. lee is very manipulative and incheol knows it but cant escape it either.
