As someone who's currently reading the novel, get ready for so many misunderstandings and miscommunications in the future.
To the people who are repulsed by the summary, please keep in mind that this is MC's thoughts only and that he's an UNRELIABLE NARRATOR. In the novel, both of their POVs are much more detailed. Both of them have their own twisted version of solving things. Why did MC say this? Because in his view, it's correct and ML won't care about him. Why did ML say this? Bevause he cares about MC but MC is so vague about everything.
MC is very avoidant and wants to solve everything on his own accord, so he ends up speaking things he doesn't truly mean. Of course, ML would misunderstand this and respond back with his OWN understanding of MC's words, which would cause MC to think that ML is disregarding some things, and then it'll be a loop of misunderstandings. It's very frustrating even to me, who generally likes drama.
