There's a comment on here by someone called wachinanga, I copied and pasted it for you
I didn’t understand a damn thing when S1 was ongoing lol, so I had to put together a summary now. The political conflict centers on Ju Incheol, elite political aide. He works for a congresswoman with presidential aspirations, but after losing ground in her office, he’s sent into "exile" with a near-impossible mission to save his career: resolving a dispute over redevelopment and evictions in the troubled district of Songmun City. If Incheol fails to clear the area for a new real estate project, his political career is effectively over. The main obstacle to the eviction is an old local gym, owned by boxer Ahn Pyeong-hwa. Pyeong-hwa refuses to budge—and, as it turns out, they end up becoming neighbors. To complete his mission, Incheol needs Pyeong-hwa to sign an eviction agreement and sell the gym. Pyeong-hwa—who is constantly covered in bruises and carries deep-seated trauma from institutional abuse and violence inflicted by his former guardian (a police officer)—agrees to cooperate on one condition: that Incheol hits him. Pyeong-hwa channels his pain through masochism. Desperate to save his career, Incheol crosses the line and agrees to enter into this power dynamic. As for the hidden truths, nothing was a coincidence. Kwonsu—Incheol’s colleague—had been lying the entire time. He spent two years pretending to live next door to Pyeong-hwa, all while deliberately failing his own mission to acquire the gym. This sabotage is what led to Incheol being transferred to the city to "clean up the mess." Both Incheol and Pyeong-hwa are being used as pawns in a large-scale corruption rn.

I’m so confused.. and probably stupid but could someone please explain the backstory a itty bitty please?
