Got cursed, de-aged and now has to make the group he’s in to be a massive hit to get back to his original life. Also, the reason he’s such a sadist is because he chose to be the bad guy to make sure he earns enough to provide for their family, which is only him and his younger brother. It doesn’t excuse his behaviour, but it gives context.
