So I think I know roughly where this story is headed.
The main questions are? 1. What happened in there interim between when Shuraka sent Tei away to now; including what happened with Shuraka's mom. 2. What the eye of Natam wants and how it effects Shuraka and their brothers. 3. The exact nature of Shuraka and Tei's relationship and what are the consequences of said relationship?
We know that everyone in Shuraka's family with the eye hears the voices but Shuraka is the most powerful (he had the eye sense birth). So something with him specifically is off. He may be more violent and powerful than previous rulers he just doesn't have the dictator ambitions which is why the citizens worship him. So in his killing spree he started going too far which caused his mom to fear him because he went further than previous eye of Natam havers did. She probably fled or killed herself which is what causes his grief and maybe led to him scaling back his violent tendencies. Now for the eye of Natam I think they function like plants. They grow, release seeds (hence the reproductive narrative) and can cause things to grow in other ecological zones. It is also why they are encouraging not to leave because they would be an invasive species elsewhere. Conversely the can become poisonous if they don't pollinate which is why their blood turns gold. Natam is using Shuraka as a way to purify the line because before him the family were dictators and his brother still alludes to this.
Now here is where Tei comes in. Shuraka is so afraid of losing him he attempts to make himself the most palatable version to not scare him off. Tei, however, is more interested the more he is himself. But the "problem" is, Tei is a man, so he cannot transmute the poison the way he would if he was a women. So they will form a symbotic relationship that will slowly kill Tei although Shuraka will be fine or Shuraka holds back and he slowly dies. So it becomes a story of who will die for who. There will be a moment where they have to reconcile this (either through the letter Tei's brother sent or something else) and the fruit that becomes the beginning for the omegaverse will be introduced. But I think they will have a happy ending at the expense of something but not them per se(I think they will live). They might Kill Natam or something like that which sets the stage for the next story that is the actual destruction. In the end they will be gone(Not nesscessarily dead though) and the side stories focus on the aftermath of their ultimately selfish decision to stick together.
I will be interested to see if I was right or not. But BWAT usually have their couples end up together after tragedy in some way.
