Did all the people hating on mc not pay any attention at all that the story is set in the 90s?? Of course he's not coming to terms with being gay, NO ONE was openly gay in freaking Korea, they still aren't. He's never seen lgbt people portrayed in a favorable light, if at all. Of course he only thinks in a heteronormative future because that's all he knows. He's scared for himself and for cheol, and yes he's making dumb decisions but they are out of fear and not malice.
