The author understood a kid isn't supposed to exist to heal their parent's pain. A kid shouldn't suddenly make you a better person, nor stupid. The kid has a strong mentality which I love, but at the same time she is realisticly written. And we understand why the dad is so against putting expectatives on children, without making his life a tragedy. Lastly, the kid is cute but neither overly so, nor a goody2shoes
