I can and can't believe that there are people out there truly mourning the fact they couldn't read about an enslaved person x a slave master fucking for 70+ chapters.
Aside from the fact that this is quite literally they romanstisation of the worst atrocity committed by mankind and watered down into some yeehaw cowboy bullshit, in what way could this have been good?! I mean seriously, the first panel gave everything away and the plot is so obvious it makes me want to hurl. The Twitter apology doesn't make it any better.
To those suffering in their cesspool of grime and food droppings, do yourself and everyone a favor and do a quick Google search (ik, very hard and scary for you) and look up Human Leather by Jim Crow Museum. Not to go all 2020 on you but, it's not mine or anyone else's to educate you on matters known globally. Ignorance is indeed a choice.
The internet is not “mad” or woke blue-haired people but rather people who genuinely care for others, are educated, and have basic cognitive thinking skills. So when a BL comes out on a matter deeply rooted in abuse, SA, imprisonment, forced labor, cannibalism, etc. And turned into “what if a white savior came and found a hot enslaved cowboy and they fucked?” like be so serious. It was garbage in the drawing room and it's shit on the page.
I hate to break it to many Jaxx lovers but as a parasocial person myself (love you gojo), you can't come back from this. Jaxx has some great stuff mainly Walk on Water. Greenlight was okay, definitely on the darker side, but it still had compelling storytelling and handled topics in an insightful, meaningful way. In what way could a writer from possibly SK write about this? There are definitely ways to handle this in a good way but this wasn't one of them. The film Belle (2013) does a pretty good job at this while being in a different time period. What Jaxx did is repugnant.
This isn't even going into the fact that the ML is native. That's a whole different can of worms. Obviously Jaxx didn't gaf about the history and wanted the aesthetic. The African Americans would simply be background in the story (check how other side characters have faces except them). Jaxx did not have some genius plot up her ass like Isayama, but just a fat gurgling pile of shit.
Anyway, let's take a shower and read real books because some of y'all screentime is showing.
