I feel like it's a different kind of love now. In a romantic sense, he's fully in love with the Mc. But, he will always harbor a type of love for the Mc from loverboy because he did share that connection at one point. There's still love there, but it's morphed and changed into something that isn't romantic anymore. It's a nostalgic kind of love
