People in public WOULD actually give a shit! Or at least that's how it would be in past Japan (typical conservative countries thingies). It was seen as a "weird" hobby to have and besides, (most) people at the time thinks sexuality is a private matter rather than a public thing! The term "fujoshi" itself was created by men trying to degrade and mock women for reading BL!
Maybe its me but i kinda dislike how 'otakus' overreact and say 'we cant talk in public'. As if people in public would give a sht. It should be fine as long as its not cencory-sexual stuff. (I bought bl novel and in copyshop, male workers even cloents saw the intimate two boys pictures. It would be hard to tell what its about from outsider perspective so duh, they didnt care. Even if they did, they would tease me or something lol. Also, 'otakus' might have specific types, mature otaku wouldnt just randomly ship real people either but thats something else. Anyway whatever just ranting.
