can we take one moment to appreciate wooju’s parents? thry’ve basically raised both wooju and jiheon since they were little, that’s why he says they BOTH mean the world to wooju’s parents. im pretty sure they view jiheon as their own kid too, mostly. it’s extremely refreshing to see representation of what actual responsible parenting looks like. you could disagree with the exact way the parents reacted, but i personally want to appreciate this conversation because i’ve been reading yaoi for 10 years now, and haven’t seen much of this at all. these are hard conversations to have with your adult children, much less with their friend, even if the whole scenario is unrealistic because of omegaverse. i’m sure we can all spell out hundreds of other bls with accurate representation of bad parenting, but i can count on one hand the representations of good parenting, much less “accurate” ones (since it could differ based on moralistic logic). Unless it’s a story where parenting is the main theme (these are usually josei or the likes), parents aren’t given much value and mostly remain npc or villains in most yaoi settings. which is sad because in real life, so much of our life is inherently influenced by our parents and parenting styles, etc.
