No it's not a reincarnation per Se. Because the king guy needed a vessel to put the soul in and that's why the kid when it was close to death the soul was put in. So the Mc and the soul are two different people, and the soul chose to let the Mc's consciousness live instead of himself, that's what has happened, I hope I make sense and I am sorry if I am not right lol but this is what I understood and remeber

Could someone explain to me the thing with MCs soul. Ar first i thought he was a reincarnation but then why would they need to kill him as a kid and then put the soul in? As I said I’m so confused about MCs identity pls I feel so dumb
