in light of the new kdrama coming out, I’m just gonna come out and hate on this manhwa again. Remarried empress rlly set the standard when it comes to being the most terrible piece of fiction in the history of literature. I think it’s pure slop for numb minded people to consume on autopilot. I pray future historians never find this manhwa out of fear they might think that we enjoyed this kind of garbage in our time. practically everything in this manhwa is milked dry and dragged out.
the manhwa tries its fucking best to villainize the underdogs like rashta. I don’t understand how rashta is the MOST hated character in this manhwa when she’s a product of her environment. And the fact that the manhwa tries to blindside us into thinking navier is this smart, gorgeous, business, hustling woman who cares about birds and pigeons when she willingly overlooks the slavery in her empire?? I’m sorry, how can you compare the fucking EMPRESS to a slave and not expect sympathy for the slave? I was fuming so bad when the manhwa tried to play it off as rashta being the bigger evil for sleeping with whatever his name was emperor when he is the fucking EMPEROR!?!? like yes, I understand she turns “wicked” but that’s literally the only development to be expected after everything she went through and the environment she’s in lmao?? you can’t expect a person to abide by girl code when you’re a slave.
not to mention, the emperor is probably the worst written character. he’s not even interesting. he’s just.. there for being the sake of being a villain, and a comically evil one at that. I couldn’t even enjoy this story because he was the dumbest piece of bricks. How this layman even became an emperor, I don’t even fucking know, but oh wait, I do, because everyone in this manhwa is just horsing around as well. if this was set in france, he would’ve long been found at the guillotine for being an inept ruler
the male lead has got to be the most stale piece of white bread character ever in literature. his personality is nothing but being a foil to highlight navier’s “awesomeness” and how “cool and badass” she is. I’m mostly pissed I spent my time reading this when I could’ve been scratching my ass or something. that’d probably be more productive than reading remarried empress or more like rewrite-this-empress. but the actress playing navier is fucking hot so at least that’s something it’s got goin
