I feel like it’s obvious he loves him way too much and is trying to cover it up by making it seem like he’s the one controlling the guy’s emotions, while in reality, it’s him who can’t control it. He quite literally wants him only for himself and only wants to see that side from him. If anything, I see this as him trying to cover up what he actually feels for him by telling himself this is what he wants to hear and “this the quickest way to make them fall for you” , yet it was him who fell him deeply especially for the things hes told him. He was the one who was shocked by what he told him by the sea, which I think is why it keeps flashing back to that scene and as to why he mentioned it. He’s trying to make it seem like he’s the one who planned this, like he’s the one who’s in control of the guy’s emotions, like he knows what he needs and wants, while he’s actually doing this because it’s what he wants.
