People really throwing their morals and critical thinking out the fucking window just to defend their favorite fictional white woman. suddenly slavery, grooming, classism, and misogyny are all excusable as long as navier comes out looking good. like, do you hear yourselves? Imagine being more concerned about defending a fictional empress than actually examining the fucked-up power dynamics of a 17 y/o former slave and a grown man. You can like a character without bending your entire moral compass to justify everything surrounding her. She's not going to fucking send you a thank you card
