i was hoping she'd lose her charm halfway through & have to deal with the consequences of brainwashing a ton of people, but no dice. as a result the plot dragged and dragged and dragged. just give her the ring already!! fuck!!! and then it turned out there were magically no consequences at all. i wasted my time T_T
speaking of, i've seen isekai where the ogfl has a charm ability but this is the first time i've seen that kind of mind rape romanticized and whitewashed. ik the word "romanticize" gets thrown around lightly these days, but the author genuinely expects you to believe the feelings the MLs develop while under MIND CONTROL are genuine and that the FL is blameless when she is shown purposefully charming & making use of charmed people countless times. the FL seduces, has sex with, and is even impregnated by the male leads while knowing they might only be slaves to her brainwashing, which is 100% rape! but it's ok bc they wuvv her sho muchh :( she didn't mean to, the victims MADE her do it :( so sad :(
beyond that the fl is deeply unlikable in that she doesnt gaf what effects her actions have when it's not on a male lead. the scene where she spares etienne's life made me lose all respect for her - he is profoundly evil, not just to her but to innocent bystanders *COUGH* BURNING ROGER'S MOM TO DEATH *COUGH*, but handsome man crying :( he wuvvvs her :( so sad :(
the author seems to think guilty feelings = accountability which is just wrong. it wouldn't bother me so much if the end game ML wasn't such a green flag, but honestly crochet or whatever her name is doesn't deserve roger. ofc arnold and etienne are so pathetic & disgusting she really doesn't deserve to end up with them, etiher. the best ending would've been all three losing their feelings entirely, then roger gaining legitimate affection for her afterward. which could've happened if she lost her charm halfway through!!! Fuck.
