Despite Chan Geon’s crimes, he is a pitiful man born into hell, who will never know what it’s like to be truly human. It’s clear that love and redemption is beyond him in his wretched life and the only affection he could give is cruelty. To an extent, Sam too must pity him so the feelings and bond towards him must be rather strong. Most of the chapters made me cry, ch 70 being the most, because Chan Geon is forever lost and has no meaning or direction in life. I hope that he would find peace, love and redemption even from just one person in this life.
