Damn, after the “OMG gimme more” first season, the second season was a letdown.
I LOVED the first season. Jihyun ticked so many boxes for my favourite type of ML: a creepy, one track minded manipulator pulling the strings so he could get the target of his love. It was also incredibly satisfying to see a pitiful, unloved MC meet an affectionate ML, while the jerk sunbae got relegated to second fiddle. If you only start expressing interest when there’s competition, the ship has sailed.
But then came the second season, and instead of developing Jihyun and the MC’s relationship further, more and more time was spent on the jerk sunbae. At times, Jihyun felt like a side character waiting on the sidelines while we explored jerkface and the MC’s relationship.
It felt like maybe the author didn’t really know which ML they wanted the MC to end up with, so the MC just kept bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball.
Maybe that’s why the ending didn’t feel satisfying to me... There was no real buildup to two lovers finally getting together because so much time had been wasted on the jerkface sunbae.
