What the hell?

Two Ciels? I was just reading the last 7 chapters after a long pause and now this? I don't know what the mangaka thought, but ..... I dunno it seems far-fetched that NOBODY has asked about the twin. Not even the one who had the photograph or the friends. I mean the all mentioned the mother and the father at a time but not the twin?

And nobody mentioned that Ciel's the only son. And there are plenty of evidences on how the plot came to be so,eh

He was thought to be dead and we can safely assume that it was talked about without it being shown in the manga around the time the MC showed up the first time. The servants and new people like that were not aware of his existence, the MC probably doesn't want to talk about it and avoids the topic at all cost, but plenty of other people were. That photographer sure was so I don't see why he'd ask about someone dead now two years or something later, and he probably thinks everyone knows anyway and that it's not a big deal since he was nonchalantly showing the photograph up to everyone.

It's obviously hard to make that work in the English version, but in the Japanese he is mentioned a couple times through that thing the Japanese language has with ambiguous plural you can only figure out through context. Many times when they talk about "the child" it was "the children" that they meant. Also there are two times it's said in a non-ambiguous way: when madam red says "my nephews" and when Joker says "the earl and his children". For some reason that was translated as "my nephew" and "the earl, his wife and child" but that's probably out of pure confusion from the translator and thinking the author had made a mistake.

Basically the thing with Japanese is that sentences like "He is worth more than two people" could have just as easily been translated as "They are worth more than two people". It's purely context that dictates it, and so translators thinking it's obvious (or not and just took the "safe" choice) the context dictates it's one person, translated it as just that.

The only exception is when a -tachi is used, which was there in the Madam Red and Joker cases.

Thank you guys!!! I'm so glad I read the comments to find out whether I am imagining things!
I always thought the twin is an asspull move because of the DEFINITELY NOT ambiguous translations I have read over the years! Being a fan since the very first chapter was released, I thought I was going crazy or blind or am just stupid!
But clearing it up and explaining it for me this way, I can finally find peace with the revealation!!!
