Yeah, my native laguage also like that, the pronouns are neutral gender. There's one time when one of webtoon from my country got fans translation, the translators was confused because one character's gender never stated clearly and the character also have androgynous appearance too, so they kept changed the pronouns between 'he' or 'she' until the authors said they decided that character to be neutral-gender, which no problem in my language but confusing in english. In the end the translators use the character's name as pronouns ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Maybe in japanese you can't really tell the difference between "he" or "she" (like I don't speak japanese, 'cause every time in yaoi they talk about the person they love and they say "he" and not "she" the other people around don't get it.... so interesting
