For a shoujo, it's pretty good. There's no romance, but there is love, and a little sadness. I wish the mangaka had continued in with this manga instead of ending it there. A genie that grants wishes in exchange for the wisher's life force, a shopkeeper with an invisible shield that allows no one to touch him, and an orphaned girl with sleeping beauty syndrome that's the only one who's allowed to touch him, it sounds so simple a plot but it's pretty touching.
Indeed. I think there could be a great more they could do with this story as they explore exactly those curses / problems you mentioned and perhaps found a way to break them. Even the back story that could be revealed could be fascinating.
