I guess?
Sometimes a good author can make an old cliche turn into a good cliche https://media3.giphy.com/media/26xBPSrLb7WgKCfkY/source.gif
Like you know it's cliche af but somehow, the story is interesting in its unique way that you like it, ya know?
But sometimes the author doesn't do that so you just get a plain cliched story.
The Korean Bl's I've read so far have abrupt endings that make no sense....so ehhh.
I'm 50/50 with both.

Lately i find korean bl webcomics more creative/original than the yaoi manga i have been reading my whole life, even the art is so unique and diferent in each one. Of course i have my absolute talented mangakas that i love, but in general i find the new yaoi manga-mangakas very similar or cliché. Idk
